Dear Club Secretaries
You may have noticed the news item and posts calling for applications for members of a new Mountaineering Ireland Hillwalking Committee.
The Board of Mountaineering Ireland has agreed terms of reference and an initial work plan for a new Hillwalking Committee and is now seeking applications for membership of the committee. Full details are on our website: https://www.mountaineering.ie/aboutus/news/2019/?id=197 and we would appreciate if you could share this link to all your members and anyone else you think might be interested in applying.
I would also like to remind you of our Annual General Meeting which will take place on Saturday 30th March 2019. As none of our Clubs are in a position to host the AGM and Spring Gathering this year, the Board have decided to a have standalone AGM (followed by a Members Forum). The AGM and members forum are great opportunities for clubs to have their voice heard and be involved in the decision making and direction of Mountaineering Ireland. You are also invited to put forward motions for discussion at the AGM.
a. For 100 Full Members or less, 2 Delegates, and
b. For every 50 Full Members above 100, 1 Delegate, and
c. For the remainder of their membership, 1 Delegate, subject, in the case of Member Clubs, to a maximum of 12 Delegates and, in the case of the Individual Honorary members, to a maximum of 20 Delegates.
Full details can be found and shared at the following link: https://www.mountaineering.ie/aboutus/news/2019/?id=196.
For new/aspirant Clubs (clubs that have yet been approved at an AGM) can you please forward your constitution if it is still outstanding, and we will put your club forward for full membership. This will allow you full voting rights as a full member Mountaineering Ireland.
Please let me know if you need any further information.
